Using only the most astute methods of research, I have produced my Sweet 16.

Kansas- Sherrod Collins and Co. are really frickin' good. Would pick Northern Iowa, but find their mascot is a Panther. Have you ever seen a panther in Iowa>
Maryland- Go Turtles!
Georgetown- I like their game.
UC Santa Barbara- Gauchos is my favorite mascotin the tourney
Syracuse- Their mascot is an orange with arms and legs. My pick to win it all, obviously. (wanted to pick my fellow Tomahawk Choppers from FSU)
Xavier- X!
BYU- Go Fightin' Mormons!
Wake Forest- Demon Deacons! They're demonic!
Cornell- Can't bet against the Fightin' Andy Bernards
Montana- Really, what else do Montanans have to live for?
West Virginia- Just because I want to hear the John Denver song.
Duke- Krzyewksi!
Old Dominion- I already saw them beat Notre Dame, and I am still not convinced that Baylor can be any good at any sport
St. Mary's- They're the Gaels! I don't know what a Gael is!

There it is. I'v already wagered well over 20,000 dollars on these teams to my bookies, so wish me luck.

It's amazing how far the glory one can fall. On July 6, 2009 I attended the first Major League game of Braves uber-prospect Jeff Francoeur. He was from Atlanta and received a standing ovationin his first atbat- he finished the surreal night with a home run. His future was as promising as imaginable.

Today, Jeff was traded to the rival Mets for a second rate journey man. And I think it was a great trade for the Braves He is statistically one of the worst hitters in the game. He is routinely booed at home and holds the dubious distinction of "Dayton's least favorite Brave"

My how things change.

I promise I'm done with Michael. I was at Target the other day and found no less than 8 "Special Commemorative Collector's Edition" magazines devoted to MJ- eprobably twice as many at a bookstore. Not really sure who collects stuff like that.

My amateur psychiatric analysis of MJ: he's a guy with severe emotional issues that have been thoroughly exacerbated by absolutely everything that has taken place during his life.

I'm done with MJ. Hopefully everyone else is too!

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

In the car today, Dr. Laura was on the radio (I love how she can take problems that would normally require years of therapy and solve them in 30 seconds). She laid forth a simple theorem on relationships: "Men think with their brains, women think with their hearts; men analyze, women feel."

This seems especially true today.

I've alwas had difficulty with catharsis. No matter how good a performance may be, I can never fully suspend reality. I don't seem to have this problem with baseball games, as I've sworn at Jeff Francoeur more than every person I've ever actually known in my life combined. Bu movies, plays, tv... I just can't get beyond the fact that I'm sitting watching it, rather than living it.

The msot recent evidence of this was in watching "The Dark Knight" on DVD. One of the climactic scenes involves the Joker attempting to blow up a hospital. While the tension rose and the dramatic music played, I could help myself from thinking thoughts such as, "How does one rig a hospital with explosives without anyone noticing?" "Where do you find the man power to rig said hospital?" "How could someone afford to buy that much dynamite, and how would that purchase go unnoticced?"

Whether the hospital exploded is besides the point... I just spend too much time thinking to get absorbed in to anthing. As the Joker would say, "Why so Serious?" (that said, the movie is very good)

I hate isntalling things. Whether it's a tv, computer, dvd player, book shelf, phone, desk... whatever, I manage to ruin it. Never fails. Pretty sure I'm a lost cause.

The latest debacle occurred while attempting to hook up my mom's new laptop to our wireless router. Not only did I fail in that endeavor, now I can't even get my laptop online.

Lovely.

Is there anything mroe anti-climactic than watching fireworks on television? It just isn't the same as seeing it in person. Although fireworks have never been my cup of tea.

Kudos to CBS for having Craig Ferguson, a man not from America (although he is a naturalized citizen) host their 4th of July special. Nice to hear his thick Irish accent during the program.

Since the dawn of time, there has been a desire to make sense of birth order. While there are countless efforts at deciphering the code,Alfred Adler's is about the best.

Munro, however, gave me a different perspective on birth order. He heard it at a conference years ago, but finds it particularly pertinent. It posits: The first child (or an only child) will take his/her perspective/life cues from the father, the second child from the mother, the third child from the parents, and the fourth from the family.

Additionally, individuals take their perspective on romantic relationships with their relationship with their opposite-sex parent, and views on themselves from their relationship with their same-sex parent.

I've found a lot of truth in these as I've reflected on them.

Today we celebrate America's birthday by blowing stuff up from China. To commemorate this day, I local realtor placed American flags in front of all the houses in my neighborhood. Interestingly enough, the flags were made in Taiwan.

One of the best pieces of Americana that took place on the 50th Independence Day- Thomas Jefferson and John Adams died within hours of each other.

Fortunately, I have the only dog in the world not scared/bothered by fireworks. Chipper doesn't even seem to acknowledge the loud noises. Ignorance is bliss.

In politics there are few events that come as a complete surprise and even fewer scenarios where politicians have a complete spectrum of options available to them. Thus is the case, however, with Sarah Palin's abrupt resignation.

What I think the outcomes could be: A) run for president, B) run for Alaska's Senate seat, C) genuinely get out of the business and focus on family, D) cash in (i.e. books, speaking, etc...), E) she's about to get busted on some sort of legal problems. Of the five, resignation doesn't seem necessary for any but the last. My guess is that she's cashing in, but that's just a guess.

I was in attendance for her speech at the 2008 RNC and was floored (as was everyone else in attendance) by her elegance and poise. In the 10 months since then, she's evolved in to a late night punch line, which is a shame. And randomly quitting doesn't help anything.

The good folks at The Melting Pot (a fondue restaurant I have yet to visit) really wanted us to get in to the patriotic experience.They're having a 59.99 deal for couples! But that's not what caught my eye. It's the tagline "Hard to believe America is 333 years old!"

I sent them a reply e-mail saying "It is hard to believe America is 333 years old... America is 233 years old."

Munro suggested I watch "A Beautiful Mind," so I picked it up from the video store the other day. I finally got around to watching it tonight and was floored by the bone-chillinglyn real depction of schizophrenia and mental-illness. I can't rememeber ever having a such a reaction to any sort of media- tv, movie, whatever. I plan on encouraging all in my life to view it.

My cathartic thrill was dashed, however, when cursory research that the movie was a very, very, loose interpretation of John Nash's actual life. Beyond his mental illness, Nash got himself in to trouble on numerous occassions, such as fathering a child out of wedlock and seeking political asylum in East Germany.

But I'm not letting that get me down. Great, inspiring movie.

I've never really gotten in to video or computer games. Except for DinoPark Tycoon. For hours a day I'd play the simplistic business game, buying and selling dinosaurs, constructing buildings, and periodically repaving the parking lot. The best part was that the game had been deemed educational, so the let us play it at school! It was a red letter day when I was finally able to beat the game. I didn't rest on my laurels. I started over and made back to dino-glory.

I purchased the CD off of eBay but have not been able to get it to work on my new laptop. This makes me sad.

If you've watch any part of the seemingly endless Michael Jackson coverage (something I'm trying my darnedest not to) you'll notice the omnipresence of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Seriously, who invited these guys? Did anyone invite these guys? OR did they just show up?

From what I can tell, neither had more than a loose friendship with Michael. It seems to me that the Reverends (I'd like to know what exactly they are Reverends of) have anointed themselves as official representatives of the African American race. While the mass media loves surrogates, to claim either of these dopes can represent a race is ludicrous. You don't see random white guys camping out in front of the home of Billy Mays of Farrah Fawcett.

I don't care however comfortable they may be, Crocs are some of the ugliest things ever created by man. I look down upon all those who dare wear them. I had hoped that I was immune to the awfulness due to my freakishly large feet, but they now make pl size Crocs. Sadness.

I have a policy when it comes to haircuts: If I can't trust your judgment to do your own hair, I don't trust your judgment to do mine. This has become pertinent with the fact that the only hair cuttery within walking distance from my dorm is the MasterCuts at Crossroads. The store features a motley crew of beauty school rejects sporting bright blue weaves and mohawks. Sorry... don't need a haircut that bad...

Due to some recent weight loss, I am now the exact same height and weight- 6'4, 210- as my baseball hero (and namesake for my dog) Chipper Jones. I presume, however, that Chipper's body fat index is slightly superior to mine. Still workin' on that one.

From the news we already know department: Crossroads Mall is in severe trouble. US News and World Report's website lists it as the second (yes, #2 in the nation) most endangered mall in America.

As someone who lives at UNO and can't drive, I wish I could utilize the mall. Outside of Target, it's empty storefronts and crappy local retailers.

All malls die. In the 70's Crossroads was the happenin' place in town. But like The Center Mall before it, Crossroads is dying. It's just a matter of time before Westroads, Village Pointe and others go down the tube.

I have come to really dislike twitter (and facebook statuses). If I have feelings I want you to be aware of, or have done something of significance, I'll let you know personally.

I also am not a fan of personal fans. I know that the world definitely has no desire to read the intricate details of my mundane existence.

I'm trying to find a middle ground. More than 140 characters, less than grandiose self righteous blabber. It's a TwoG. We'll see how it goes.

The goal- 2 or 3 paragraphs of insight/humor and a picture from Google Image. The best Google Image I could find of "twog" was the thing below. There ya' go.
